Academic Advising
Current Students
Current students should always contact their assigned advisor for assistance when selecting courses or to develop individualized schedules for their academic discipline.
If you do not know who your assigned advisor is, browse to the PeopleSoft web site at https://students.kctcs.edu and select LOGIN (located under the KCTCS logo in the upper left corner). Enter your User ID and Password. Go to Self Service, Student Center, and then Advisor. We also encourage our students to visit with their academic advisor frequently through the semester.
Academic & Career Counseling
Our group of counselors are available to meet with students needing academic and career counseling. Counselors are also available to meet with students needing personal and situational counseling. If on-going counseling is necessary, referrals are made to certified professional counselors in the community.
If you need to change your degree plan and be reassigned an advisor, you will need to complete a Change of Personal Data form and return it to the Counseling Center office.

Also, Program plans and Student Checklists for all Associate Degrees and Diploma Programs offered at our college can be accessed from the Online Advising Manual. In addition, transfer information to specific in-state colleges and universities is also available. The Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees are designed for transfer to baccalaureate programs.
Students with defined professional/career goals requiring a bachelor’s degree may begin their education at a community college, then transfer to any public university in the state. These General Education transfer agreements are in place between all public colleges and universities.
