The Ready-to-Work Program is a joint venture between the Kentucky Cabinet for Families and Children (KCFC) and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) designed to promote the success of Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (K-TAP) recipients who wish to pursue higher education.
You must be receiving full KTAP benefits (monthly monetary assistance for children, medical card, food stamps) to qualify. If you are currently married or are receiving child support you may not qualify.
What can the Ready-to-Work Program do for you?
If you are receiving K-TAP, RTW can work with your case manager to help find money for:
- Car repair and transportation
- Daycare
- School supplies
- Plus many other expenses
Also, RTW can work with the college to assist you with:
- Making decisions regarding your career goals
- Tutorial assistance for tough classes
- Finding your way through the financial aid and enrollment processes
- Counseling, advising and mentoring
- Meeting and talking with peers
- Earning up to $2500 per year through on or off campus Work Study positions
- Short-term training for job skills, life skills and academic success seminars
- Agency referrals
- Finding a job
- Job references and referrals
