ECTC Graduation May 14
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will hold its 44th annual commencement on Thursday, May 14, at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium at Central Hardin High School in Elizabethtown. Colonel Mauhee Edmonson, an ECTC alumni and Mobilized Senior Nurse and Executive/Deputy Commander Nursing, Fort Knox U.S. Army Medical Department will deliver the commencement address to about 155 graduates who are expected to march at the ceremony. About 592 students received their diplomas or associate degrees from ECTC following Summer, Fall and Spring semesters. Family and friends of graduates are welcome to attend the commencement. Fall 2008 President's & Dean's Lists
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College has announced the names of students who made the Presidents Honor List and the Deans List for Fall 2008 Semester. The Presidents Honor List is awarded to full-time and part-time students who are eligible based on the following criteria: Full-time degree-seeking students earning a 4.0 grade point average and successfully completing at least 12 hours of course work for the academic term, excluding developmental courses, are included in the Full-time student Presidents Honor List. Part-time student Presidents Honor List eligibility criteria includes: a cumulative 4.0 grade point average and a cumulative total of at least 18 KCTCS semester credits. For subsequent terms, a part-time degree-seeking student must earn a 4.0 GPA, three additional credits or more for the term, a 4.0 cumulative GPA and a cumulative total of at least 21 KCTCS credits. This semester 116 full-time students and 259 part-time students made the Presidents Honor List. The Deans List recognizes academic excellence in students who achieve a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average overall for the semester. National Dental Hygiene Month in October
A healthy smile lasts a lifetime. Thats good news, but its also this years theme for the celebration of National Dental Hygiene Month (NDHM) in October. In observance of this month, the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College chapter members of the Student American Dental Hygienists Association, SADHA, are focusing public attention on the importance of the dental hygienists role in educating patients on the potential link between oral health and systemic disease, and the importance of establishing good oral health habits at an early age. Patricia Walsh, of Upton, was honored with the National Educational Office Professional of the Year award by the National Association of Educational Office Professionals at their Annual Conference and Institute in Broomfield, CO in July. Five years ago, when two large manufacturing plants in Elizabethtown laid off approximately 1,000 workers, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College partnered with several local organizations and offered free workshops to provide support and guidance to people facing an uncertain future.
