KY Art & Craft Exhibit and Reception in Gallery

Start your Valentine's Day celebration early with a special event in the Morrison Gallery at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. The College is showing a special exhibit of works from the permanent collection of the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft. Museum Curator Brion Clinkingbeard will be featured at a reception on Friday, February 13, to introduce you to the delightful world of Kentucky art and craft. The exhibit includes quilts, pottery, furniture and imaginative constructions that bring to life the culture of Kentucky. The reception will be held on Friday, February 13, from 5:15 to 7 p.m. with refreshments and a presentation at 5:30 p.m. by Brion Clinkingbeard.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, located in downtown Louisville, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1981 to support and promote art and craft excellence in Kentucky. The Museum presents about 15 exhibitions annually, and in 2006 was named one of the "Eight Great Craft Museums in the United States" by American Style Magazine. KMAC offers a wide range of exhibitions throughout the year, featuring local, regional, national and international artists. Its primary focus is on contemporary craft and folk art, but it also shows paintings, prints, drawings, video and photography.

This exhibit in ECTC's Morrison Gallery is a unique opportunity for local residents to experience part of the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft. It will be on display in the Gallery until March 9. The Morrison Gallery is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., Fridays from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and until 7 pm. for the reception on February 13.
