Domestic Violence Awareness Candlelight Vigil
In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness month, The Phoenix Club, an Elizabethtown Community and Technical College student organization, along with SpringHaven, will host the 8th annual candlelight vigil on the campus of ECTC on Thursday, October 23, 2008 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Room 112 of the Administration Building. Also, beginning at 9:00 a.m., and continuing throughout the day, there will be an exhibit of posters, videos, informational brochures and literature. Music for the candlelight vigil will be provided by Amy Williams from ECTC. There will be poetry readings by students and a faculty members. Lisa Holmes from SpringHaven will be a keynote speaker along with a survivor who will share her experience of moving forward in her life after experiencing domestic abuse. The Phoenix Club, consisting of ECTC faculty and students as well as community members, promotes awareness of domestic and child abuse. Susan Berry, a faculty member at ECTC, is the club's advisor.
