ECTC Poetry Series Begins October 23

ECTC kicks off its annual Poetry Series on Thursday, October 23, at 7 p.m. with readings by two accomplished poets. The Evening of Poetry, which will begin with 20 minutes of open mic, will feature J. Steven Rhodes and David Harrity. The Poetry Series is held in the Morrison Gallery in ECTC's Administration Building and is free and open to the public.

J. Steven Rhodes' volume of poetry, "The Time I Didn't Know What To Do Next," was recently published by Wind Publications. In addition to a Ph.D. in Theological Studies from Emory University, Rhodes received his Masters in Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary and his B.A. from Eckerd College. He is currently working on an MFA in creative writing at the University of Southern Maine-Stonecoast.

David Harrity's work has been, or will be, published in issues of Ruminate Magazine, Membra Disjecta, New Southerner, The Minnetonka Review, and The Xavier Review. A chapbook of his poems, "Morning and What Has Come Since," was published last year by Finishing Line Press and was recently nominated for a Pushcart Prize and Kentucky Literary Award. He works as a high school teacher and lives with his wife, daughter and two dogs in Jessamine County, Kentucky.
