The Board of Nursing consists of 16 gubernatorial appointees who approve programs of nursing, and regulate and control the licensing and conduct of nurses in the commonwealth. The Board also protects the well-being of the public through the development and enforcement of state laws governing the safe practice of nursing, nursing education and credentialing.
Mudd was also awarded the Certified Nurse Educator credential from the National League for Nursing, which is the national organization that promotes not only the nursing profession but also nursing education. The National League for Nursing gave the first certification exam at an educational summit in 2005, and since then, only 29 nursing educators have been certified in Kentucky. The Academic Nurse Educator Certification Program recognizes excellence in the advanced specialty role of the academic nurse educator, including knowledge, skills, abilities, and excellence in practice.
