Spring Activites and Events on Campus
April 16 - 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. - Room 112 Administration Building - Child Abuse Awareness Day and Vigil - Sponsored by student organization, Phoenix Club -open all day with information from CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), the Advocacy and Support Center and displays by ECTC students. Short video's that will run consecutively. The Vigil will begin at 7 pm. Music provided by John Hardin High School Chorus Ensemble and ECTC Choristers. The "ribbons display" will be outside from Monday April 14 to 16th.POC: Susan Berry, 706-8436 v April 17 - 7 p.m. - Morrison Gallery - Administration Building - Poetry Reading, featuring Kathleen Driskell and open mic readings. POC: Mick Kennedy, 706-8407 v April 21 - 3 p.m. - Science Auditorium - Healthcare debate - two sides of the Single Payer Healthcare issue will be debated by Kay Tillow, an advocate for Single Payer, and a local physician, Dr. David Zoeller. POC: Pem Buck, 706-8510 v April 22 - 6:30 p.m. - Room 303 OTB - PTK sponsors "Operation Green...Creating a Dialogue" - a viewing of the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" and panel discussion about environmental issues. Panel to include Rep. Tim Moore; Vince Heusen, Nolin RECC; Professors Sue Ballard and Khondaker Haque. Refreshments and door prizes. POC: Gail Demery, 706-8438 v April 26 - 3 p.m. - Administration Building/Science Building courtyard area (rain location: Room 112/Morrison Gallery ADM) - Renown KY Author Silas House lecture, discussion, book sale and book signing. Subramanian - Indian veena player will perform for the public - He and his research assistant, Ms. Sowmiya, will be on campus for a week and will speak to several classes. His assistant is an expert on the use of music in educating children. POC: Dave Buck, 706-8548 v May 1 - 7 p.m. - Science Auditorium - The Phoenix Club is sponsoring a Forum on Family Violence, to discuss the impact on the home, business, law enforcement, the judicial system, health care, social services and education. POC: Susan Berry, 706-8436 v May 4 - 1 - 5 p.m. - Prichard Community Center - SIFE students are hosting a First-Time Home Buyer Expo, to include financial institutions, realtors, builders, retailers and more.
