ECTC Hosts Health Care Reform Debate

Health care reform is a hot topic on political, social, and economic agendas, and is a key issue in this year's presidential race. Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will host a debate on this important and complex subject, focusing on single payer health care, one of the many options to be considered in health care reform. On Monday, April 21, at 3 p.m., ECTC will host two prominent Kentucky experts in a discussion of health care reform: Kay Tillow and Dr. David Zoeller. The debate, which will be moderated by Associate Professor Dean Nason, will be held in the ECTC Science Auditorium and is free and open to the public.

Dr. David Zoeller has practiced medicine in Elizabethtown for 19 years. He graduated from the University of Louisville Speed School of Engineering with a Masters in Chemical Engineering, and is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Physicians and Surgeons, a member of the Business Advocacy Commission of the Kentucky Medical Association, diplomate of the American Board of Family Practitioners, and Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

Ms. Kay Tillow is a native Kentuckian and is active with Kentuckians for Single Payer Healthcare. She is a recipient of local and national awards for her work on healthcare reform, including one from the Coalition of Labor Union Women and the Thelma Stovall Award as well as the Dr. Quentin Young Health Activist award in 2006.
