Professor Attends Midwest Economic Teaching Sympo
The "Midwest Economic Teaching Symposium," held April 24 at the University of Cincinnati, was a gathering of some of the nation's most distinguished educators of economic theory and principles. Only three community college teachers were invited to the exclusive event, and one was from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. ECTC Professor of Economics Khondaker Haque attended the one-day event to hear such distinguished speakers as Paul Krugman, Princeton University; Tyler Cowen, George Mason University; Laurence Ball and Joe Harrington, Johns Hopkins University; and Jose Vazquez, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
The keynote address was delivered by Paul Krugman, Professor of Economics and International Affairs, Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. Krugman, also the winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Economics, spoke about "The Return of Depression Economics."
Haque uses video of the various speakers in his classes to introduce a cross-section of economic perspectives to his students and to generate discussion on relevant economic issues.
