Japanese Koto Concert at ECTC
Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is hosting a Japanese Koto Concert by Tomoko on Tuesday, April 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the College's Science Auditorium. Japan's national instrument, the Koto is rich in creative sound and rhythmic, lilting melodies. Tomoko seems to bring the soul of Japan from this unique instrument when she performs. She began studying the Koto at five-years-old and was conferred full mastership at the age of 16. Tomoko has studied with some of the Koto's great artists, including Yoriko Saito of the Ikuta group and contemporary Koto artist, Masayo Ishigure in New York. She has performed in New York, Connecticut, and now Kentucky, where she resides.
Tomoko will also perform on Saturday, April 25 for the ECTC Japanese school.
The concert is sponsored by ECTC's Multicultural and Fine Arts Committees. For more information, contact Manami Robinson at 270-706-8449.
