Interactive Television Class Information
An Interactive Video (ITV) course is the Distance Learning alternative most similar to the traditional classroom. Students in classrooms at different predetermined locations can see and speak with each other and their teacher through a television format. In ECTC ITV courses, a facilitator at each classroom site assists the students and instructor with machines. E-mail and fax machines at each location also promotes ease of communication. Students are expected to fully participate in classroom discussions and projects. Students are not required to travel from their site; the time for the course, however, is fixed.
Students Best Suited for ITV Courses:
This type of class is best for those students who can attend class on campus or at an off campus location at a set day and time. The successful student will be one who adapts well to technology, who can work in groups and who can communicate well. Students at a remote site will also need to be motivated and disciplined to study more independently, though usually student network support is available and the instructor is available before and after class via ITV or other means.
