COMPASS is a comprehensive computerized placement and diagnostic assessment instrument. Calculators are allowed and testing time varies for each student from one to three hours.

The ACT can be taken in place of the COMPASS test to gain entrance into ECTC. To be exempt from COMPASS, students must score a minimum of 18 in the disciplines of Math, Reading, and English on the ACT exam.
